last night, becky and amanda took me to the hoxton kitchen bar for this industry showcase. a bunch of bands played and were pretty rad. opening act standouts were definitely velo and ali love, (with whom i may keep on repeat on my itunes for the next 6 months, give or take). the headliner, i blame coco, was radical. beatsy, london electro. it was just so nice to go to a show again and get down!

and for my b-day, we're hitting up cargo to check out late of the pier on friday!! radness!!

'tis the season.

i received my second package sent to me in monaco today!! granny and grampa sent me a lovely christmas present. one of my professors told me that i should wait 'til christmas to open it, but i think i'm going to save it for the end of exams.

my friends are big time.

first off, happy belated canada day. i've been kind of m.i.a. for the past few days with my mom in town visiting, and the weather being ridiculously pleasant. hung out at the beach a bunch with some homies, slipped and fell on some barnacles climbing a huge rock at third and shredded the shit out of my leg. then i went ahead and lost my phone yesterday. the radness.

oh, and much to phil's amusement, i passed the fuck out while watching 'transformers 2' last night. seriously, amid all of the explosions and megan fox's revealing outfits, i took a nap.

which segways perfectly into the topic of this post - a couple of my california homies are in this movie with the aforementioned meggie and adam brody. check the trailer!!

so, even though garf's totally smells like someone barfed on a heating vent and turned it on, it holds a special place in my heart. and the fact that the guys from the circle and everyday whistler set up ramps and a flat bar between the vip booths and the back bar is fucking hilarious.

it's been a sad past couple of weeks here in the valley and the lower mainland - local pro skier, shane mcconkey, passed away in late march after a base-jumping accident in the italian dolomites.

so many of my pals are kitty-obsessed. i think it's rubbing off, even though phil's allergic and i am, for the most part, more partial to domesticated pets of the canine persuasion. anywho, i figured, seeing as my friends and i are fans of this, our natural progression (keeping kitty-dom in mind), would be toward this.

poor lukas. too much heat, booze and [a little bit of] grass in eastern europe found our poor friend making the best of pals with the sidewalk, face-down. this resulted in a blind date with the ER in bucharest, the removal of two molars and the promise of another one yet still to come.

good news is, homie's got some stateside r & r with his mom dukes on the immediate agenda, followed by a return to the old world where he will keep at it with the film-making.
