this has been a STRANGE year. it's so weird how close you can become to people you've just met when you're forced into an intense situation. monaco's been like summer camp, but with WAY more booze.

looking back, it's fair to say that i've consumed a fair amount of booze in the process of getting to where i'm at now. luckily, i've become well-versed in the art of navigating a hangover. sometimes it pays to be old balls, newbies.

i received my second package sent to me in monaco today!! granny and grampa sent me a lovely christmas present. one of my professors told me that i should wait 'til christmas to open it, but i think i'm going to save it for the end of exams.

today i got a package in the mail from yaya and pee pee!! it totally made my day. inside:

* book number 3 and 4 of the sookie stackhouse / true blood series
* organic wipes for all sorts of emergencies
* a canucks towel
* a vintage 'france' mug from sellution
* 1 pack of my favourite false eyelashes
* a 'hello canada' magazine featuring the swayze
* 1 pack of black american apparel opaque tights
* a jar of 100% all-natural shea butter
* 3 letters! one from miche, one from yaya and one from pee pee

what an amazing reminder that my friends and family love and miss me. i am a lucky lady.

today i got a package in the mail from krissy!! my first piece of mail since i arrived in this strange land. so she wins the prize for ruling my universe for the day.

inside: 1 package of balloons (note: will be used to celebrate my long-awaited arrival to the new flat in cap d'ail!), 1 plastic rib tip (think: fred flintstone's dinner) to put on the end of my pencil, 1 6-pack of moustaches (thank god - i only brought one pack with me, so i'd be sure to run out before the year was through!) and 1 lovely card with deer prancing on it.

basically, it really picked me up after this piece-of-work-weekend i've had. amazing, kris! you successfully:
a) reminded me of home
b) made me recall good memories
c) made me feel warm & fuzzy

sorry for the hiatus there, dear readers. it's been a crazy month. my dear friends, amelia and emma, threw me a going away party just before i left vancouver. it was a great-gatsby-inspired end-of-summer picnic in strathcona park, and it couldn't have been a lovelier afternoon.
