my girls, leah and susan, are picking up and packing it in for toronto this weekend. i am having a karaoke gathering at my place in their honour tomorrow night, and all you (uh 3?) readers of my blog are more than welcome to join me and about 30 of our closest friends to toast them, and participate in a mass shotgunning of beers in their honour.
love you girls. you are my family and i will miss you more than you'll know.

my 'it girl' this week is none other than the ravishing charlotte rampling. amelia, lukas and i went to see a luchino visconti double header at the cinematheque a couple of months ago and there she was, lighting up the screen, as the ill-fated elisabeth thallman, in 'the damned'.
she is all classic, lythe, english style. quite rightly, the perfect 'it girl' segway to autumn.

it's been awhile since i last did an 'it girl' posting, but i'm back with another classic french dame - the tirelessly stylish francoise hardy.
singer, actress and astrologer. muse of serge gainsbourg and nicholas ghesquiere, and enough of a woman to inspire bob dylan. 'it' status immortalized. enough said.

scientists at berkely university in california have synthesized two new types of materials new types of materials that can bend light the wrong way, creating the first step toward an invisibility cloaking device. for reals for reals.
nobody will be walking around all invisible-like just yet, but things are in the works. i seriously can't wait until we get holodecks (those real-life hologram rooms that you can take vacations in [anywhere you want!] on star trek) and obviously when we can teleport. uh, radical!

remember the adbusters article about dead end of western civilization? well, gavin mcinnes, has taken to his blog in response to their analysis of the hipster genre, and has some might interesting things to say about youth culture and some other poignant bullshit. he also recommends that we get down on this article, by momus.

my down homeboy zac, is the nudie rep out here in these parts. he hooked a sister up with a real nice pair of jeans (see above). the dry fit indigo is meant to be worn as long as possible without washing - or with as few washes as possible, to break them in the most natural and best way possible. i love them - they really display my ass in the kindest light.
so now, we are having a contest to see who can hold out the longest. nudie recommends you go about 6 months before the first wash. think i'll win?
check this - harper's bazaar's latest spread features the (self-proclaimed) first lady of all things fierce, miss t-banks, posing and paying homage to the next potential first lady of the united states herself, michelle obama.
yes'm, check that hair!

adbusters has something to say about the evolution of the y [me] generation.
“these hipster zombies… are the idols of the style pages, the darlings of viral marketers and the marks of predatory real-estate agents,” wrote christian lorentzen in a 'time out new york' article entitled ‘why the hipster must die.’ “and they must be buried for cool to be reborn.”
check it. y'heard vancouver??
