grey days.

it's getting cold outside. van is super foggy half the time, sunny in the most unexpected moments, and chilly always.

things are getting down to the wire, work-wise. lots of stuff happening. lots of stuff not happening. please vibe the universe for me and help me get the ball rolling. x

i don't always hate the rain.

definitely get tired of it, though. luckily, it's only the end of september and the rain has just begun to fall so i'm still marveling at the novelty of it.

wore my wellies for the first time in a while, which was fun. i still love puddle-stomping. i'm trying to find a new fall/winter steeze. pretty sure there will be a lot of black involved.

and i totally bought some creepers.

so fuck it, it's fall.

it's like, we tried, but summer only really happened for like, 3 and a half weeks.

whatevs. couple big trips back east planned over the next couple of months. should be rad. can't wait to see the friends and fam i never get to see, being all addicted to the west (i.e. best) coast as i am. also, i am going to shop the shit out of myself (in a very strategic way, just you wait).

totally going to make @culverpants give me this two-tone black mani within the next couple of weeks. too dope.

dust bunnies.

last weekend was pretty awesome, but with one exception. the good things that happened were as follows:

* the sun (finally!) came out on canada and warmed my bones
* i lounged with my friends and had lots of laughs
* we watched kids play and skate and ate greasy burgers
* my mom flew in from california and we had some awesome quality time
* i rode my bike a lot and went on lots of walks
* phil and i layed in the grass in the park next door and held hands

the one bummer thing that went down was that my girlfriends' house was robbed. they lost a lot of expensive and (upsettingly) sentimental things. it really sucked. i wish it hadn't have happened, but it did. the upside is, no one was physically hurt. just bruised feelings. we have our health.

made me reevaluate my attachment to material things. i am currently working on cleaning out my closets and shooing away the dust bunnies - going to get rid of the shit i don't need and work on cultivating a small and meaningful collection of what i want in my life. oh, and let's not forget - we're getting apartment insurance!

kill it with kindness.

james holt is a friend who's struggling with one of the toughest things a person can.

a bit of info from the event posting on facebook:

"james is 32 years old and has been struggling with neuroendocrine cancer since he was 23 in pilot school and had his whole life ahead of him to fulfill his dreams. instead, james has been fighting to survive. in the past 9 years james has undergone 3 major operations including a whipple procedure and 2 liver resections, as well as 2 chemo treatments.

in late april, after being in remission for 2 years, 3 new spots were identified on his liver through a routine CT Scan at which time james had to make the difficult decision to leave his job as a smokejumper with parattack to face his disease again. upon arrival in vancouver his medical team advised that the only curative option was for james to undergo a liver transplant. after spending months of coming to terms with this potential life changing procedure, canvassing for a liver and undergoing many screening processes - three new spots have appeared on his lungs and james no longer qualifies for a new liver at this time.

james’s cancer is advancing, and his team of doctors are trying one final treatment on the metastatic liver tumors. however, this radioembolization procedure is still going through clinical trials and is not yet approved to be covered by health canada, medical services plan, or any other private insurance provider.

the FIRST treatment costs $16,000 and is to start in november. this is this just the beginning of his first treatment to health and wellness..."

come on through and show your support. there is going to be a crazy raffle with amazing prizes, and heaps of chances to win. it takes the whole village to raise a barn, y'all. i'll see you all there.

peep this: hot 'n fun.

okay, i know that i've been posting heaps of videos lately, but i am STOKED on this one.

firstly - n.e.r.d. um, i absolutely love these cats, and have been waiting in anticipation of their bomb tune for quite a while.

secondly, nelly is repping hard for west coast canada, so i gots to give love where it's due.

thirdly, any technicolour homage to first nations tribes is completely keeping in line with everything i find fabulous and wonderful. it's like a buffy sainte-marie/george clinton and the parliament funkadelic tribute set to a mellow booty house beat.

can't. bloody. miss.

xo.
