a tooth for an eye.
it's been awhile, but the knife are back with another haunting anthem sure to be adopted by angsty 20-somethings all over the world. i love cornrows and i love this song.

smoke and mirrors.

sometimes i feel like i have a shroud over my head. and i can't see what's really going on. occasionally i get flashes. but for the most part, my eyes are shielded.
i've been running alot. michelle is going to give me a program so that i can start training for a half marathon this fall. i think i need this.

dust bunnies.

last weekend was pretty awesome, but with one exception. the good things that happened were as follows:
* the sun (finally!) came out on canada and warmed my bones
* i lounged with my friends and had lots of laughs
* we watched kids play and skate and ate greasy burgers
* my mom flew in from california and we had some awesome quality time
* i rode my bike a lot and went on lots of walks
* phil and i layed in the grass in the park next door and held hands
the one bummer thing that went down was that my girlfriends' house was robbed. they lost a lot of expensive and (upsettingly) sentimental things. it really sucked. i wish it hadn't have happened, but it did. the upside is, no one was physically hurt. just bruised feelings. we have our health.
made me reevaluate my attachment to material things. i am currently working on cleaning out my closets and shooing away the dust bunnies - going to get rid of the shit i don't need and work on cultivating a small and meaningful collection of what i want in my life. oh, and let's not forget - we're getting apartment insurance!

crips & bloods: made in america.

phil and i sat down and watched this documentary last friday. i mean, i know that racism is institutionalized in america and canada, but lord, i wasn't prepared to see what i saw and learn even more about the true history of the degredation of black culture on this continent.
do yourself a favour and educate yourself - watch this film, and understand how much further we have left to go. we need to understand our communities before we can know how to properly raise them up and fight the powers that be.

happy heart day.

going for nachos tonight with pee pee. if i'd been able to get up earlier today, i would have tried to do something fancy with my hair, just like that top picture.
lesson of the day: go through your phone bill and make sure you're not getting ripped off! totally called fido on their garbage today and they realized they'd overcharged me by $224. $224!! um, seriously?
i'm totally taking that surplus and putting it toward a new tattoo (sorry mom). hence, the sweet picture of skate moss.
lastly, i want that jacket in the bottom picture. apparently it was from bcbg like, 2 years ago, so i suck and for sure won't be able to get it ever. booooooo. think i might just have to frankenstein together a reverse version of one from old jean jacket sleeves and a leather biker vest..
projects!!

well, this SUCKS.

one of my fave collabos of recent years has just officially broken up.
this blows. harsh diss on rumi too. which sucks, because i like her (obvs) for similar, but different, reasons.
life marches on, i guess, hey? xo.

in response to yaya.

claudia came to my friend's art show at the yacht club (he is to the left here in the photo - he's nic's cousin, actually).

margherita missoni was at the art show too. super cute.

stavros niarchos was there as well.

eugenie niarchos showed and her outfit was ridiculous. easy when you're the richest girl in the world, i suppose.

then lady gaga and her entourage showed up at the next table at dinner. she was totally wearing the same type of see-through mesh catsuit with strategically sewn sequins that brit brit wore in her 'toxic' video, but navy.
there were a bunch of other types there that i recognized from fashion mags and style.com and junk - it was a bit overwhelming.
big bloody wednesday for this girl. phew.

yesssssss!
i am a sucker for gh. when i used to work at earls, i would get up every morning and do double duty on y & r and this shit.
and now james-mother-of-all-things-good-and-holy-franco is guest starring as a artist/murder suspect?! i cannot believe that the one year i have no access to television, this groundbreaking event will be happening.
can someone please tape this for me? or whatever contemporary equivalent of that is possible? thanks.
