last night, becky and amanda took me to the hoxton kitchen bar for this industry showcase. a bunch of bands played and were pretty rad. opening act standouts were definitely velo and ali love, (with whom i may keep on repeat on my itunes for the next 6 months, give or take). the headliner, i blame coco, was radical. beatsy, london electro. it was just so nice to go to a show again and get down!

and for my b-day, we're hitting up cargo to check out late of the pier on friday!! radness!!

road dreaming.

i just got back from my 5-day road trip across the better part of vancouver island. the weather, surprisingly enough, held out - so i had sunshine and mellow temperatures for the better part of my drive.

all that time alone got me to thinking about all of the concerts i want to hit up this spring/summer season.. and of the outfits i'd get to wear while galavanting about at some of the out door festivals (sasquatch - eep!).

i've been thinking of mumus and cowboy boots, chewing straw and drinking beers, and of long hair and cooking hotdogs. and of those killer pierre hardy for the gap clog sandals again. cripes.

the show at richards this year was poppin', so the commodore had better grow a pair and live up to it. buying tickets now!

i am so excited. leah, suze and i have got tickets to see the constantines tonight at richard's. it's been a big year for these guys - they recorded a gorgeous single with fellow arts&crafts label-mate, feist, and dropped their third full-length album - the aforementioned 'kensington heights'.

dallas, doug, steve, will and bryan fucking wail.

doors open at 8 p.m. - i reccommend getting a ticket on the a.s.a.p. if you haven't already done so.

oh finally emma uploaded her pictures on facie!! sasquatch was a gong show, pretty much like last year. except i had extra homegirls with me this time. and no puking (on my part).

lots of amazing bands. the national was awesome. and i especially enjoyed when the lead singer of the mars volta kicked the shit out of the videographer's camera. oh, and when he chucked the cymbal into the crowd.

all we needed were our $11 pbr's, our cowboy boots and some malboro 27's to call it a day. woot.

last night susan and i were total barflies at h&m grand opening. the misshapes were there, and i got a couple of really cute pieces.

we're leaving for sasquatch tomorrow after work, and it promises to be a disaster of an weekend - i can't wait. colleen gave me the headdress she made and wore at acme west and i am totally going to preside over my campsite in that shit. i think emma is getting me a sweet besty dress too - it's going to be all costumes, all the time. wish us luck..

last night leah, kris, alana and i went to see a bunch of super cute swedes play their super cute swede music at the red room. lykke li and el perro del mar were headlining and it was totally worth my $22.

last night was so much fun!! leah and suze bought me tickets to the black kids and cut copy for my birthday and the show went down yesterday at richard's on richards.

seriously, i haven't boogied like that at a show since ratatat played there last year. also awesome, ryan and sal, my friends from cali, are back in town filming the rest of their part in the new diablo cody movie 'jennifer's body', and they managed to finagle some last minute tickets in the nick of time.

notable moments:

* 'time stands still' - second song in cut copy's set. so rad.
* 'listen to your body tonight' - black kids slayed this one.
